Soul Space April Newsletter

Hello Friends!

I hope this newsletter finds you doing well. If you are anything like me, you might be feeling the intensity of this wonderful, maddening world we are living in right now. There is so much hate, fear, and divisiveness that somehow seems to touch each of us on the daily. And at the same time, there is goodness to be found, though hard to see some days.

As I sat holding these two polarizing thoughts, I decided to ask Jesus, “What do you want to tell me as I figure out how to hold space for the things I fear and the things I love?”

I waited.

And waited some more.

Sometimes that’s how it is. Maybe my distractions were taking over and I wasn’t noticing well, or maybe Jesus had something to say, but just not in that moment.

I continued on with my day. And very gently, almost unnoticeable, this picture flashed in my head. I was sitting with Jesus (BTW, in my head He looks like Jesus from The Chosen). I was softly crying, and Jesus looked me in the eyes, grabbed my hand, and held it to His chest. He never said anything, just smiled and held my hand to His heart. His soul maybe? Whatever it was it was powerful.

I have thought about that picture ever since. When I start to get anxious or discouraged I picture Jesus taking my hand and placing it on His heart. Immediately it calms me.

The reason I share this story with you is to show you the access you have to Jesus. Whether you call it prayer, or meditation, or just talking out loud to Jesus like you would a friend, you have His attention. Why not ask Him what He has to say to you?

And then see what happens as you make this question to Jesus a daily practice.

A new offering is coming to Soul Space

I’m excited to announce that I will be adding Immanuel Prayer facilitation as a service. Whether you would like to include it in your spiritual direction session, or book a one hour session just for Immanuel Prayer, this service will be available beginning in June. Book appointments here.

“What is Immanuel Prayer? It is a combination of Biblical principles and brain-science that help the recipient establish an

interactive, back-and-forth connection with the living, tangible presence of God. Once the

recipient has an interactive connection, they can engage in a variety of possible endeavors, such as

just being with Jesus, receiving comfort from the Lord regarding some specific, current pain, or

working with Jesus as the therapist to heal traumatic memories.” ~Dr. Karl Lehman

Books I’m Enjoying Right Now

These aren’t necessarily recommendations, but books based on the subject matter that’s speaking to me at the moment. Maybe they will speak to you too. Also, you may be thinking I read all the time. Not true. I have a bad habit of skimming books, reading only the parts that draw my attention, and most of the time not completing a book. Ugh. I’m working on my commitment issues to the written word.

So, all that said, do as I say and not as I do. The books I’m suggesting are ones that dear, trusted friends have recommended or given me. They sit in a beautiful pile on my desk asking me for my time. I gently pat them and remind them I will be getting to them soonish.

'And this hope will not lead to disappointment. For we know how dearly God loves us, because he has given us the Holy Spirit to fill our hearts with his love. Romans 5:5

“The contemplative vision perceives God even in the midst of disaster, turmoil, or personal failure. It never loses hope because its hope is not based on human events but on the divine goodness, which is infinitely powerful and infinitely merciful.” ~Thomas Keating

Grounded in decades of lived experience, Krista brings a gentle presence and a deep understanding of the human heart to every space she creates—whether she is listening to someone’s story, offering guidance in spiritual formation, or leading creative workshops that invite people to reconnect with themselves.

Krista’s journey into soul care began more than a decade ago, when she realized she had been living within self-imposed expectations of perfection and religious performance. Exhausted and spiritually dry, she stepped into a slower, more contemplative rhythm—one marked by honesty, curiosity, and a renewed awareness of God’s presence. What she discovered transformed not only her faith, but the way she walks with others.

Today, Krista is known for her calm, compassionate voice and her ability to make people feel seen, safe, and deeply understood. Whether you’re processing grief, seeking spiritual renewal, navigating life transitions, or simply longing for a quiet place to breathe, Krista offers a space where you don’t have to have the answers—just the courage to show up as you are.

She lives in Arizona with her family and finds joy in creativity, hospitality, and the sacredness of ordinary moments.
